This exercise is very difficult and involves focusing mentally and physically towards the centreline . Measure out your stance like you are going to practice SLT , move your fist in front of your chest. Your partner puts light pressure side ways on the back of your hand or wrist with his fingers as you slowly drive your punch out.
At a random point along the path of your punch your partner will suddenly take his hand away . If you are not totally relaxed and focused to the centreline your fist will veer off to the side instead of continuing along the centreline when he suddenly takes this sideways pressure off .
As I said it is a very hard exercise to do and if you can do it with even only a moderate amount of sideways movement you are doing better than me. If you are some sort of genetic freak and can do it with your fist only moving minimally sideways then make it more difficult by getting the partner to increase his pressure.
It is crucial to be relaxed as possible while still staying focused to the centreline , mentally try to disregard his force and pretend that you are just doing your SLT as per usual.
