Hardwoods?

I told the person that I'm not interested in buying more sticks at the moment, the person insisted that every FMAist should have some hardwood sticks in their collection.
I don't think I necessarily disagree with that sentiment...I'm just not likely to whip out my credit card to buy hardwoods from someone just because they pressure me on IM to do so.
But what about you all? Do you keep hardwoods in your stick collection? How important do you think they are (compared to rattan)?
