I really liked the wing chun for empty hand encounters and of course the FMA for weapons encounters. I would encourage anyone studying JKD to go back to the roots of each art and study one of them only for some period of time. It will make things make more sense I think. Many times an empty handed move in Wing Chun is very radically different than an empty handed move in FMA... I can certainly see the twin weapons oriented moves of wing chun as subsets of what Tuhon Gaje calls "the direct method."
Anyway, what I am trying to express is very simple but very deep.. but going back to the roots will definitely help you figure out what is going on in some of the JKD movements(there must be tons of substyles). (ok I havent touched JKD since the 90s.. but I think you will see what I mean if you try it.)
