Isnt it a requirement at Nakadai dojo? Im not sure but they seemed to practise back hand flip as well as some other flips when I was there in 2001.

Never trained with Nakadai. Don't know if you need to know flips to get rank from him or not. The three Japanese shihan I have been training under at one time or another while here never have required it.
