We have a couple of friendly neighborhood sex offenders. The school district sends out letters, and we can check on-online if we want.

I do look up the address. One lives in a building complex right behind the middle school athletic field, go figure. His offense was drugging and raping a 15 year old in a different state. I make a point of telling my kids about it, just so they can be a little smarter about visiting their friends over in that area.

I agree that it doesn't account for the friendly neighborhood perve who HASN'T been arrested yet.
