Feeling my age! Can't understand what the youth of today are saying anymore!

Projecting an image, eh? In a chat room, OK (well, not really OK, only a bit more understandable), on a forum where your posts are supposed to stay for a rather long time, absolutely not OK. If they want to project an image, they should post a photograph. It would do the job while bi- or multidirectional communication could be maintained.
Because this is not communication. That needs all participants to understand each other directly, without several attempts at deciphering a single post.

Hey, I understand now. They really are projecting images. I just couldn't believe that amount of self-critique. :wink2:

"Do I look bovvered?"
"Yeah but..."
"Do I look bovvered?"
"Yeah but..."
"Do I look bovvered?"
Catherine Tate beautifully mocking that idiom

I fear for the English speaking world if this nonsense continues. The young lady in question obviously knows what punctuation is but does know what a captial letter is for. For goodness sake, writing in accent went out with Dr Johnson (that might be an exaggeration) and it very sad to see this stream of consciousness style of spelling reappearing.

And you know it is an outgrowth of the whole cannot say no to children, cannot deny children anything in case it damages their self-esteem attitude. Well, stuff 'em. Their self esteem can take a little knock now and then so that they might actually be able to function as something more than a criminal in society.

Schools really need to get back to basics and start failing students for poor spelling. It was a struggle to read that artefact. I seriously doubt this girl's ability to express anything complex in writing. And the sadest thing is, they all use computers to write with now, so why can't they take the extra minute to run a spell-checker? Well the answer is they are either too stupid, too lazy, or thik their time is too precious to waste. Afterall, in a minute they could send twenty texts.

The future is looking like a very strange place with people who cannot talk to each other texting across rooms because textspeak has become the only common language they have.

Exactly. I don't know what's the situation with crimes committed by children elsewhere, but here it started to grow in numbers. Mind you, we had this earlier as well but to a much smaller extent, due to parents actually wanting their children to be criminals. Now we have more and more under-age criminals with good family backgrounds due to this near-total lack of discipline.
But the other extreme is just as bad. I was very often severely beaten by my father as a little child for things I did and for things I didn't do. Now the result is that I hate my parents, not with some childish rage, rather with logically thought-out despise. According to the psychologist whom I had to visit when I was 13, my little mental disorder have occurred mostly due to this.
