What is the difference between a master of an established style that doesn't work in real life and a master of a self created style that doesn't work in real life? Why is one a parody while the other is not?

Both are parody. Both are useless and detrimental.

I watched the Shawshank Redemption a few nights ago for the umpteenth time. Andy Dufresne asks the warden why he's being so obtuse. The warden, after throwing Andy in the hole - sarcastically says Or am I being obtuse?

And I thought - "there's a word you don't hear much anymore."

And the very next day you guys use it in a thread. You guys are awesome.
