Karen Darabedyan made his WEC debut against tonight against Rob McCullough, a WEC former champ. It was Darabedyan who looked like the seasoned pro, though, as Darabedyan won a split decision 30-27, 27-30, 29-28.

The first round was a stand-up war, with Darabedyan executing near-perfect striking. At one point, McCullough lowered his hands and asked for more. Darabedyan obliged, unloading a series of punches on McCullough's face. Darabedyan was less overwhelming in the second round, as McCullough was able to land more shots. Both fighter sustained cuts in this round.

McCullough used leg kicks in the final round to try to gain an advantage, but Darabedyan kept coming at McCullough with sharp striking and unceasing movement. As the round ended, McCullough dropped his hands again and told Darabedyan to keep throwing punches. That got a huge response out of the crowd, but didn't necessarily help McCullough's case with the judges.
