Hitting on someone… today ?
It is well known American's have some of the hardest hitters in the world...
Boxers, Thai boxers, Shooto wrestlers, Kickboxers, NHB fighters, etc...
American's just know how to hit...
What methods do you use to improve your hitting ?
Meaning unarmed, like kicks, knees, elbows, hands and head..

Makiwara
Heavy bags
Wooden dummy
Sand bag
Thai pads
Focus mitts
etc.

What methods do you use and why...?

that is a really nice tire dummy! i like the wheels on the bottom. i'll tell you that the tire dummy will condition your hands like never before. something about hitting that rubber stings... especially when its wet or cold outside.

I hit a big wooden pole that holds up our Garage. it hurts.

I tried being tougher and filling a duffle (spelling?) bag filled with rocks. I hit about twice. Then I put the rocks back. then the duffle bag back. then went inside. then put my hands on ice. There is a nice tree in my Keiko Nohara that I wrapped in twine and use as a makiwara. good stuf.

Hey Queen of Pain.. that's a very nice tire dummy...
I have a few in my Academy too.
The use I get out of them is mainly kenjutsu keiko... and of course other weaponry.. but kenjutsu mainly.
I put 2 inches of wrestling mat over my tires to help with shock. I love it.
I also have a tall tire dummy that is completely covered with wrestling mat that I elbow, knee, kick and punch.. it's more or less a very large makiwara..
One of the tire dummies has a few holes in it so I can put poles into the holes for arms.. and I can work around them. with kali or what ever..

When I did savate we used long straps of tires bolted onto a post that stuck out so you could kick them in combinatuions.. they kind of slapped a lot.. on the feet.

I believe striking training is way over looked... if you are not a martial arts hobbyist... good post on hitting things..
