The Famous Croc Hunter Steve will not face Charges for feeding a croc with one hand and hanging on to his one month old child with the other.

Thoughts

They had another one? Wow...I gotta start getting back to watching that show :D

I love the Hunter, and I'm sure he knew what he was doing...

and i'm sure if the boy grows up to be workin w/ animals, he'll be doin the same thing...he's an Irwin afterall...

And, as it says, the Irwins live in very close proximity to crocs. Knowing what to do, how to react, and learning at an early age should be important.

It's going a bit far if you ask me, I mean, what's he trying to prove? If the croc lunges and he slips in some mud and goes down, who knows what can happen...

On the other hand, Steve always has at least 1 person and other tools on standby. He also knows the personalities of the specific crocs and gators he works with.

To people, Steve's behavior may seem reckless because people fear crocs & gators. This fear is largely due to most people not having any direct exposure/contact to them, so do not know much more beyond what they read and see.

He's been hanging around Michael Jackson too long, damned idiot.

Hope his father, and father-in law- kick his butt.

Were it a layman I'd think they were going a bit far, but that guy knows what he's doing. He's spent his entire life around those animals and knows how they act.

Yeah, I'm not too excited about it.

Well as a trained professional I sould see introducing someone who understood what was happening. A one month old is just not aware. Also the similarites to M. Jackson who hung his son over a balcony, was just to hard to resist. I know I am bad

He's a knucklehead by placing his infant in that type of danger. If I were in law inforcement there I'd press child endangerment charges against his arrogant, dumb *** and throw him in jail until he gets how wrong it is what he's putting his kid through...

It occurs that a cynical person might say that the more stupid things he does (endangering a baby needlessly) = bigger crowds = more money...

Ian.

I think he's kind of a dumbarse that takes too many chances anyway. Having his baby with him was way out of line.

Yeah- even if the guy knows all about his work (as I am confident he does and love watching his shows)- this was not a wise move. Anything can go wrong even if you are a professional- you just never know. Look at Siegfred and Roy.....they've worked with tigers for a very long time and know their behaviors backwards and forwards...but still, something unexpected happened. Just too risky to totally trust a wild animal like that- and to put that much trust in yourself to not trip, make a wrong move, etc........no matter how many times things have gone right with no incident in the past. A baby in the area to this croc. was a new distraction-he could have very easily decided on baby for lunch and ignored the dead chicken.

:asian: :karate:

He knows what hes doing im sure. There are people standing by. I still would not ever risk a babys life like that. Some times abit of risk is ok. Thats too much.

I'll bet his wife was ready to kick his *** when she found out.
Yeah, I can see an upcoming episode with Terri lookin' innocent saying "Gee, Steve, I have no idea how that fierce snake got into your sleeping bag."

I like the Croc Hunter and all, but what the hell was he thinking?

Furthermore, why the hell didn't his wife stop him? I think the fame's gone to their heads.

How many outsiders, who know nothing about our martial arts training would consider some of the things we do as poor judgement or over the top. I have seen children, albeit not infants obviously, doing weapons and breaking demonstrations and you don't hear the parents getting criticized for the danger of having their kids break bones or cut themselves/someone else up.

I watched the videos of the event. The croc COULD NOT have lunged far enought to get the baby - just not built for that kind of motion. Steve had a team of at least 5 people standing around him in case anything went wrong. The ground was level and flat with groomed lawn the pristineness of a golf green and he was in a wide stable stance with the baby bladed away from the croc. He didn't even move in until the croc was locked on the chicken he was dangling. Not to mention that he knows his animals and would have chosen one that he knew the temperment and mood of pretty well. I just don't see the big deal.

How about getting a little outraged about the sex slavery/child labor slavery in Africa. How about putting this much media attention and energy into exposing the attrocities of child exploitation all over the globe. It got a whole lot of people money and advertising - period.
