Many people in the public eye have a persona that is different from their private one, the jockey I was talking about needs to appear pleasant, it helps him with work outside racing, advertising, promotions etc. Conor's public persona is one of the gobby, fighting Irishman which is what a lot of people expect because they do stereotype, as with the Italian jockey being a 'bubbly' character, it's what people tend to think these nationalities are like. Conor's public persona has people talking about it, it pays to be like that for him. Once he's been around longer you'll find his public 'character' can quieten down because he'll get the work anyway.
