A great man, indeed. I remember his being the guest of honor for my local shooting club at the time (Mid Carolina Rifle Club). We all chipped in and got him a really nice 1911, and he started off the machine gun shoot by firing the mini gun.

Even in his age, he was still a very clear, sharp fellow, and I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation about Glocks vs. 1911's. He never really hated Glock pistols, he simply preferred his trusty 1911, and he even had an interesting story about how someone who wanted to sue Glock, tried to get him to be an expert witness (he flatly refused).
