This is driving me nuts... I was talking to some co-workers and we wer talking about stuff from our childhood. The was a science magazine for kids that came out monthly (l believe). The back cover always had 6 or 9 extreme closeup images that you had to guess what they were.

Anyone have any clue what i am taking about? It is driving me nuts.

Highlights was the first thing that came to my mind too, but my kids used to get magazines called Your Big Backyard (under age 7) and Ranger Rick (over age 7).

Nope, neither or those. This is driving me nuts! It is like that sone you cannot think of!!!!!

I say it was probably Highlights..Goofus and Gallant ring a bell...

I'll put my money on Ranger Rick mags because they (I recall) had those close-ups "What Is It?" with the answers on the inside back cover. It wasn't exactly a "science-magazine" as more to a "nature/animal magazine".

Highlights, yeah I remember reading those in the doctor's offices and anywhere else that kids had to wait... Heh, Goofus and Gallant... geez talk about memories. They had no dialogue either .... (right?)

Ranger Rick with the "What is It?" on the back covers. They were pretty creative with their back covers....

Sometimes they did most of the time there was a written naration of what point they were trying to get across...

I know exactly the one you are talking about. :D

The magazine was called "World" magazine, and it was by (I think) National Geographic.

The extreme closeup images on the back cover were always dubbed "What in the World...?"

Lemme look to see if I can find a link...

This would actually be a cool game for MT. Each person takes a digital shot, then takes a cross section and posts for others to guess what it is...

I think that may be it. They may have changed the name since then. I wish I could see and old cover. I would know it right away.

Thanks!

It was one of my faves as a kid. Prolly did more than I think to make me the geek I am today. :D

I dunno if that would be such a great idea...You know the sick, twisted sense of humor some of our member have..Can you imagine WHAT they would take close ups of????
