I've never dealt with tournaments, but there are services that handle booking and registration for a lot of different kinds of events. Something like Eventbrite (eventbrite.com) would be a possible answer. I've used it for seminars (not MA) and conferences.

Pre register if possible. Send flyers out with registration on it at bottom and return address on the reverse side. Competitors fill out the bottom...tear bottom portion off.....i would tape it or send my registration in an envelope and mail it. Offer discount for pre registration and offer registration at your event
