I saw this on E-digest. Does anyone have access to this footage?

Subject: [Eskrima] Bacon & Villasin ??
Reply-To: [email protected]

Just recently had the pleasure of seeing a brief bit (~25 secs?) of
Guros Bacon and Villasin and some other Balintawak players. At least that is how they were identified.

This was rather old snippet, probably a copy of a copy. Anyone know where this might have come from and/or how to obtain more footage of these pioneers?

I will request that if anyone has any old footage of any of the old Escrimadors from the Balintawak Self Defense Club, please let us know.

If it could be copied (* And not already Copy righted )* this would be great. If it is Copy Righted, please give us the contact information on how to legally obtain a copy for our own viewing.

Thank you all for your time and efforts.

Hi All,

I have a very short, very poor quality click of a few people doing Balintawak, which I got from a friend. I'll copy it and send it to you Tim, maybe you can identify who the practitioners are? If its anyone famous, I'll make the original available at a better quality copy.

Let me have an address which can handle a large file.

Hi Tim,

I've saved the clip as an.mpeg 1, but it comes out at 38.4mg and Outlook express crashes when I try to send it!

Any suggestions as to the best format to use with email?

Yes I did. Thank you. I've sent it to someone who will get it to GM Buot. He might know someone on it. I'll let you know what I find out.

The film was not the best quality it was hard to make out much in detail.

Although, Manong (* GM *) Ted Buot identified that the older man in charge wearing the glasses is Teofilo Velez AKA Teovel, AKA Teovil, AKA Pilo Velez. One of the others he thinks is Bobby Tabimina who trained with Attorney J. Villasin and then later with GM Anciong Bacon. Pilo Velez also trained with Villasin and I believe, that Pilo Velez, was one of the teachers of Bobby Taboada.

Hi Rich

THanks for the post, by the way it was your buddy the big guy Jim P. who kind of encouraged me to do something with Modern Arnis for the old timers.

any ways I have some old 8mm stuff if I can dig it out of Balintawak I think it has Dom Lopez, Villiason and a few others playing.

I also have some great stuff of Remy demonstrating Moncals Balintawak. If I can find it I will give it to GM Buot or Jim. As you may know the area I live in Michigan was hit with the worst flood in over 100 years a few years ago so I lost lost of stuff.
