Back when when I was in the academy we were told we needed ear protection when we shot..The Rangemaster said even cotton would suffice..One of the class idiots asked if we could use cigarettes as the filters had cotton fiber in them...The Rangemaster thought he was kidding and said OK..Yep you guessed it he showed up on range day and stepped up to the line with 2 Kool cigarette butts in his ears..
