Anyone else find this weird?

I'valways noticed this, it doesn't bother me cause belts don't affect me I'm here for knowledge not rank. But I always get a chuckle out of this

Traditionally you're awarded sashes in Northern Shaolin correct? Well maybe it's where we're affiliated with the Okinawan Karatedo Union, but our Sensei awards us belts lol. Maybe I'm just weird but I get a chuckle outta that.

I honestly think that a lot of people move from sashes to belts because they think the sash is somehow unmanly. We use them because they are tradition and one of our five weapons.

My students are given traditional sashes (nearly 5m long) but aren't required to wear them. These traditional sashes are supposed to act like kidney belts and a small amount of armour around the middle, but they are an incredible pain to put on.
