an unlikely hero for the Republicans in '08?

Something I thought about lately... with all the money being spent, and the possible split in the Dem vote, how wonderful for McCain was the Romney withdrawal? He had money, and would have won more states I'm sure, but he actually had the guts to step back down for the benefit of the party. Too bad Hillary won't be so chivalrous.

He might not get a lot of praise when the elections are done in November, but if McCain wins, I think Romney deserves a good portion of the credit!

Romney was losing much more badly than Hillary was and is. Hillary staying in the race now is merely indefensible by the numbers, Romney staying in the race then would have been crazy. Besides, Hillary has to make back that cool 5 mill she loaned her own campaign somehow!
