I don't know why I was even doing this in the first place. It is something that is obviously a bad idea, but when sparring or training on my heavy bag I would often drop focus on the target, (upper torso/bag) and look at the where I struck to see if I hit with the right part of the knuckles (first two) or lower/mid portion of the shin. Doing this often makes me not hit through the bag but instead I was just hitting the surface of it. I guess this would be happening because I was taking my focus off center mass.
Again, I don't understand why I didn't catch this before, I probably have been doing it for a long time but at least I caught it now. In sparring it has lead me to take some unnecessary hits because I took my eyes off them. Has anyone else made this mistake before or anything related to it?
It was something so simple I can't believe I missed it. Pretty funny actually.
