1 step sparring

We have 6 pre-set (8 for kids) and we learn them left and right handed. We are expected to design 6 more before black belt, and they can end up fairly long and complicated.

These days they often end with a take-down, or submission to the floor, with some kind of finishing move (joint locks, kicks while they're down, etc). We use them to teach distance, target points, take-downs, and overall control.

(for the record, we do full take-downs on a hardwood floor - when you learn to land right, it's not bad.)
