ALBANY, N.Y. F-B-I statistics released today show New York state is now the sixth safest state in the country, up from seventh place last year.

The statistics also show New York has once again outpaced the national average in reducing crime.


New York also retained its status as the safest large state in the nation.

IMO its the populations attention and assistance that is making the largest overall difference. People are paying more attention, and the prevalence of cell phones is a boon.
