I'm not going to share my numbers, but I'll share the percentages...you can try this too. If you don't have the actual numbers, you can choose a drop-down 'approximate' value for your family situation and use that. Numbers change, but percentages remain about the same, I think.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/2011-taxreceipt

Of the taxes I paid (after filing my tax return, not gross taxes withheld from my paycheck):

24.9% Defense
23.7% Healthcare (primarily Medicaid/Medicare)
19.1% Job and Family Security (unemployment, food, earned income credits, 'Making Work Pay', federal military & civilian retirement and disability pay, etc)
3.6% Education and Job Training
4.5% Veterans Benefits
2% Natural Resources, Energy, Environment
1.6% International Affairs
1% NASA
2% Immigration, Law Enforcement, & Administration of Justice
.7% Agriculture
.5% Community, Area, & Regional Development
.4% Response to Natural Disasters
7.9% "Additional Government Programs" (No explanation, which I believe means CIA, NSA, and other 'black budgets'; in other words, the money they spend to spy on citizens).
8.1% Net interest - that's how much of my taxes go to nothing more than servicing the debts we owe.

There are some real shockers here. I need to be paying closer attention to this.
