I'm writing a deadline story on Vincent DeMarco, who died April 11 in St. Petersburg, Fla., at age 84. I'm trying to put together a feature obituary about his life. He was a 10th degree "Dan" in USA Goju karate who trained with Peter Urban. He was a mathematical engineer who quit his job while in his forties to open a dojo on Long Island. He co-founded the Italia-America Goju system in 1974, in Padua, Italy. Apparently there are now several dojos in Italy that consider Mr. DeMarco their grandmaster. I'm asking anyone knowing anything about Mr. DeMarco, his work or the USA Goju system to call me today at 727-892-2248 or e-mail Andrew Meacham at [email protected]. Thank you for any assistance in being able to tell this man's very interesting life story. -- Andrew Meacham, St. Petersburg Times staff writer

welcome to MT. I suggest posting in the karate forum, you may catch more fish there. I respect what you are trying to do, good luck with it.
