I agreed to have a go with a kempo fight competion in april next year. Could anyone post links to sites with proper advice concerning fysical preparation? I'm looking for concrete advice (run X km's, do 100 sit-ups, 100 mai-gerris and the like). Thanks in advance for helping me not to be 'destroyed' in april.;)

What are the rules of the competition?

The rules will impact your training methods.

To be honest: i don't exactly know yet. What I do know: 2 rounds of 2 or 3 minutes each.

Spar as often as you can with as many people as you can, preferably people who are better than you (for now).

Every other morning jog for two minutes, immediately followed by a 3 minute all out sprint... then shadow box for 2 min. (hard) followed by another minute of sprinting. Finish off with as many clap pushups as you can do and then at least 100 twisting crunches (if that's easy, do more).

On the mornings that you don't do this routine do two five minute bouts on a Heavy bag... increasing in intensity as you go. Be sure to work on a few combinations that work best for you... then change them up a bit each day you do this. Follow this with working on footwork and/or those things that your sparing partners say you should work on.

Spar every single opportunity you get, every day if you can. Have your opponents (especially those who get the 3rd person perspective) give you constructive advice based on their judgement of your weaknesses... then shape your solo workout time around that.

EVERY evening before bed, three sets of 20 CLAP pushups.

This is my suggestion...

Thank you very much for the sound advice! More advice is welcome:)

I would love to have the will power to mantain such a routine, im good for 3 - 4 weeks then i turn back into Homer again!!!!:(

Well as someone in the study of exercise science, I will tell you that nothing will prepare you more for the event, than the event itself. You may be able to jog for a half hour but wrestling for three minutes recruits different types of excertion, so it is needed to be practiced in both modes. Other than sparring there is a great site for "athlete" type workouts. www.crossfit.com would be a good supplement on top of doing the actual type of event that you will be participating in.:asian:
