A quite amazing and yet at the same time perfectly logical development - one of those that makes you wonder why someone hadn't thought of it before .

Someone did... there's a movie from the 80's (I think...) with the premise that an American is to go steal a Soviet fighter that uses this technology.

(Edit: My bad. The movie is Firefox [1982] and the plane is controlled by some sort of "neurallink", but not one that requires a surgically implanted socket or anything.)
