I have installed a swain mat floor in my new Dojang. I bought used mats to avoid not being able to eat for a month. (wink). What do you all recommend for cleaning and care? Is there anything that will condition old mats?

Thanks in advance!!

Thanks. Have you ever used a conditioner? sort like you do on leather.

There are things specifically designed for mats: Mat Care - Suplay Products

We use a hydrogen peroxide based commercial cleaning solution, we used bleach in the past, but it leaves the place smelling like bleach for a while.

For us we use a dust mop first, then mop with that. Every now and then pull them up and get all the gunk out from in between them. If they are used probably give them a good scrub down, maybe a power washer to get them good and clean. They are not leather, so you don't need to condition them, just clean them.

Thanks guys. I got a wide dust mop for everyday. And then a simple cleaner for every week to disinfect. (and wipe up the occasional blood ;-) )

I appreciate all the advice.

I'd encourage more frequent disinfecting... Probably at least daily. You might check with the manufacturer for their guidance on how often to disinfect the mats.
