Caver, that is precisely why so many cases get closed. Can you imagine how it would be if the crooks were smart, forward thinking, goal oriented and had a good Protestant work ethic?
While an obvious job attempt, I can see the logic behind the first case noted on that site; US vs. Baucom. He was being charged with "failing to pay penalty on unpaid taxes". That's like being charged with only resisting arrest. It behooves the court, or whomever is requesting the charges be brought, state the original tax not paid (and therefor causing the penalty, which in this case went unpaid) just as it behooves the court to say what someone was being arrested for when the only charge is resisting arrest. The court never mentioned the tax not paid, after nearly a year of going through pre-trial motions. Seems odd to me, but I guess its funny to lawyers.
