I have trained alongside Steve Tarani when we were both guests of the late Guru Besar Herman Suwanda in Indonesia. It was at that time that we were both evaluated and then awarded our instructor ranking from PAk Herman. Steve has an extensive background in the filipino arts as well....Ba Hala Na , I believe ( but could be wrong) and also has certifications from Guro Dan Inosanto.

His skill is good and he is an intelligent and thoughtful trainer. I believe he has nicely succeeded in developing sound defensive knife and karambit programs. I have known a few people who trained in his karambit programs and they seemed quite satisfied.

I have not trained with Steve. However I have trained in Mande Muda with the late Herman Suwanda as well as some other instructors and I always enjoyed the training.
