These shots are of the Rocky Gorge Falls in the White Mountains, also known as the Upper Falls of the Swift River.

Sadly, a young woman named Dorothy Sparks went swimming in the gorge to escape the summer heat, and perished on July 20, 1942. Since then, swimming in the gorge has been verboten.

I took this picture standing on a wooden footbridge which crosses over the gorge. The footbridge is relatively new. Local hikers say that every so many years, the footbridge gets washed away by raging waters in a spring thaw...the Swift River is aptly named.

Facing the other way, in to the falls...

A cute couple out enjoying the falls...

Indeed so :D. There is something mesmeric about glissading water, especially in a sylvan setting.

I wanna live there!

Very, VERY nice shots, Carol. Thank you for sharing!

C'mon over :)

You're quite welcome. So glad you enjoy them!

Epic! When you moving? Maybe I'll come help!

ZOMG...you're a real friend if you volunteer to do that. :asian:

Depends on if the bank actually does commit to finance. If they do, I close on June 15.

If they don't...it will probably be later on in the summer, but I'd rather not think about that.

Hmmm...invoking 'ZOMG' suggests I might have to; but, we'll burn that bridge when we get to it.

I want to live there too. And per a discussion with my wife last night in 10 years or so...we might :)

That or possibly back to Massachusetts.

Hard to say...only a discussion at this point

And Carol those are great pictures...makes me miss the place all the more. The last time I was in NH was about 15 years ago.

It is a beautiful place and you have captured it well.
I love the third picture
