A small publishing company is under fire after putting warning labels on copies of the U.S. Constitution, Declaration of Independence and other historical documents.
Wilder Publications warns readers of its reprints of the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, Common Sense, the Articles of Confederation, and the Federalist Papers, among others, that “This book is a product of its time and does not reflect the same values as it would if it were written today.”

Sad but true.

But they're right.

Yes, Agreed. However if that is the case, then everything ever written pre-1990 should have the same warning label, as everything is relevant to its time and place of penmanship.

I wonder the history of that and why they started putting the warning on there. Was some odd lawsuit filed against them?

It's not about relevancy.

Quite frankly, since its writing, we have changed the meaning of what it says to reflect current values. In essence, we have bastardized its meaning.

It's wrong, but what they are saying in this label is correct.

If they put it on everything they publish especially or a historical or philosophical nature, I can understand protecting their butts. Anyone remember the lawsuit against the Bible publishing company because Judaism/Christianity think that homosexuality is wrong and he is now estranged from his parents because he told them he was gay?

The contents of those documents are very dangerous in todays society. They were written by men who sacrificed in many cases everything, who ended up with nothing, so that their descendants would have something. Today, the self centered, self absorbed, and coddled individual that is an American would, and should feel threatened by such things. Now, pass the govmt cheese and lets gather around the 48" LCD that my govmt benis bought and watch the HBO that it paid for and let our brains relax. Ummmmmmmmmm.
