Prisoners on run cannot be named 'due to privacy rights'

Probably one of the most stupidest ideas I've ever heard of... Makes John Walsh's program totally moot.

What's next?

And this concerns non Brits how?

I'm sure there's pretty stupid things going on all over the world which would be far less boring to read than things that go on in England.
Isn't there a phrase "people in glass houses......."

And this concerns non Brits how?
because Americans, by and large, are, sadly Europhiles and Anglophiles and thus, any idea that comes from Europe or the UK is somehow superior. You should watch some of our commercials...

There are, but, this is stupid AND dangerous, and that combo is always a crowd pleaser...
Isn't there a phrase "people in glass houses......."
Of course, and there is also: "Misery loves company..."

I'll remember that the next time you decide to chime in on the "U.S. Political Disscussion and Debate Forum", or anytime that you chime in on the internal workings of the U.S., or any other country for that matter.

I mean really.....????

Ah but I ask questions, or add an anecdote, as in the thread about government emails being scrutinised. I only chime in when the conversation turns as it often does to the UK, Europe ie when the subject turns to an American being a world leader, or that we should be grateful to the USA for something. I don't offer opinions on the internal workings of the US government.I don't start threads bashing the US do I?
If you want to keep your US conversations private please ask Bob to ban all non US users.

Not true, but whatever floats your boat.

Besides, they call this place "The Study" for a reason. If all we are going to do is look internally at the way things happen, then people will never learn anything.

Instead of asking why this concerns Non-Brits, perhaps you could provide some background as to why this rule exists. Or perhaps what Brits think about it.

After all, isn't that what this place exists for.... to learn something.

At the risk of Lawyer bashing this concerns non-Brits because Lawyers from 'round the world just LOVE the latest trends in the law.
Coming soon to a judicial district nearest you.

So you are calling me a liar?
The law is a civil one not my area of expertise, ask a solicitor or barrister, we don't have lawyers.
I ask why it concerns non Brits because the subject of our laws seems to exercise one persons time more than others, he never posts up the good laws, the ones that work well for balance it's always what he finds amusing to bash the Brits. learning is fine but quite honestly thats not what the OP has ever been about.

I wouldn't call you a liar in this case. I do believe you think your positions / statement are more righteous then the self-righteous that they are. But that makes you the same as most in here.

As far as the reasoning the OP, I would say to ignore it and seek to educate, no matter what their purpose. Be the bigger person.

well Irene, you fel free to express your opinion on things American that dont effect England at all.......

just saying

We all comment...that's why the section is up here. However, Tez and the other good folks from outside the US generally don't make a habit of posting up stories that show American culture in a light that is not the best.

No, this one is a clear winner on the stupid scale.

I don't see why you're so defensive about Americans discussing British policies...and considering all the grief we take from Europeans for being uninformed about things outside our borders, I'm surprised not to find a more welcoming attitude. No one is proposing invading the U.K. over this. Why be concerned that we're discussing it?

Actually, I'm just thinking of banning all political and religious discussion.......

Whatever you think I don't post threads that bash American laws, customs or police officers. nor do I call Americans the names you feel free to call all non Americans.
I'm not self righteous at all just very pissed off with the OP who hasn't had a good word to say about the UK since I started on this forum.

Being the bigger person doesn't apply here when someone posts misleading and sometimes completely false information about my country that proports to be true, I simply cannot in all good conscience allow people to go on thinking that things are true about the UK and they aren't.
We've had threads about how awful it is that a new law has come out that allow the police to stop and search depite the fact that law is 20 years old, we've had threads saying arresting people is terrible when it's not in the least. How awful it is that people can't buy swords(they can)and of course horror of horrors we have a socialist government.
And of course we come to the urban myth that it's illegal to defend yourself here without ending up in prison. if it's learning people are after how come that still crops up?
And on any thread such as America having the world leader, why shouldn't non Americans post on that subject when you are talking about your President being our leader?
Show me a post I've made saying it's deplorable how your government hoodwinks you or one where I've said your laws are useless as we've had, I've posted about your Constitution yes, I asked where I could read up on it as I'm inteested. If you are insulted by that thats sad. I've posted up about the differences in our laws, but I've never said one was better than another. I've never posted an opinion about gun ownership. I've never given my opinion about Obama only when others have decided what the UKs and Europe's opinion is, I've not given my opinion about the previous incumbant either. If I have given an opinion on anything American it's always after someone has posted what they think our opinion is rather than what it really is. I post regularly that I think all politicians are cut from the same cloth, from all countries, it's the type of person who goes into politics rather than their nationality.

guys, if you wanted to learn anything you'd ask not post up what you think has happened.

With the amount of childish banter that's been getting threads locked as of late, I'm not sure that's a bad idea. It's getting, annoying seeing the equivalent of school yard arguing replace the previous well thought out and presented debate.

because the OP hasn't posted one positive thing about the UK ever. he never asks, it's always a post with a sneer!
If someone else posts I have no problem, truly!
so why don't I ignore it? would you if someone posts constantly about your country?
