Inmates in the state's prisons and jails have a year to wean themselves off pornography.
The state Department of Correction announced Monday that effective June 30, 2012, sexually explicit material will be banned from all its facilities. Fliers explaining the new rule were posted in correction institutions on Friday.
Prisoners were given nearly a year's notice on the ban so that they could allow current subscriptions to expire and make arrangements to get rid of their stashes of porn, according to correction officials.
