Hi there--
I studied in the early 60s so I'm older than most of you. My sensei studied under Ueshiba and we only had three belt rankings: white, brown and black. After studying for almost six years, I had achieved a brown belt. Then my sensei returned to Okinawa and unlike the Karate Kid, I couldn't follow.
For the past 30 years, I have been giving classes on self-protection to women and girls, showing them the great abilities they already have and the training they could discover through aikido. Now that I'm almost 62 and have arthritis, I walk with a cane but have no fear of vulnerability. Glad to be on this forum!
