Where the hills have eyes.,and it's HOT!
So there's another forest fire here. They're calling it Las Conchas, after a campground near where it started. It's burned over 43,000 acres since yesterday, and now they're evacuating the townsite. It's in town.....again. Hard to believe we went through this just ten years ago. We're in White Rock, so we're not being evacuated, but I'm not waiting for the govt. to tell me when to go. This is a view of the Los Alamos Hospital from West Road, and I am sooooo outta here. Again.

Supposedly it's headed towards Los Alamos Nuclear Testing Facility and they're getting awfully worried... even started voluntary evacs.
They're going to need serious fire-fighters to put that sucker out.

It's already burned through my old area, the Weapons Engineering Tritium Facility, and burned down a fire station.

They've started mandatory evacuations at the townsite.

Eventually, it'll run out of fuel. That's what fires do.

Stay safe!

Those fires scare me.

poor management strategies, combined with a long drought, it's bad news all around.

Stay low don't use the elevators and get the ..........Out.
Be safe and good luck.
Wildfires suck!

I can only echo the sentiments of my fellows here, mate - get to where you and yours will be safe.

Fire is still 7 or 8 miles away. Not much chance of it (topographically) getting down here, so, unless they shut off the water/gas/power, we're gonna sit tight for right now. We'll head to the ranch, if need be, but the more time here is more time packing.

Don't try and blow that one out...;)

I led a student group through the Four Corners in April. Sad to see the area burn, but it has to. Too many years of fire suppression and insect damage have turned the forests into a very scare place to live.
