The woman in this video found this lion injured and near death. She took it and nursed it back to health. When the lion was better she made arrangements with a zoo to take the lion.

This video was taken when the woman, after some time, went to go visit the lion. Watch the lion's reaction when he sees her. Amazing!

If it had been a Jade Tigress I'd have serious doubts about the survivability of the guy. :D

Seen that vid before... touching.

1) Thanks a lot. That is a good thing to see.

2) Can you imagine what it would feel like to be hugged "full on" by that lion? It would be comfortable to be right up against that fur!

That's a great video right there. One of the all time greats, I think.

Ya know, I had the same thought. It was the coolest thing, I wish it was me! lol He was so gentle with his paws too. I had to watch that video a couple times. It's just amazing.

I think it would be rough on the exterior but digging down it would be sooo soft.
But more over the weight of the animal would be something to hold up against. That was a big kitty.

They're smart. They're gregarious. This one's human-socialized. It's not surprising.

I'm not worried about the claws or teeth, but that tongue could take your skin off with one lick.

Ya know, I'm sorry. I just don't think I have the courage.

I'd have been giving the lion two thumbs up from about 20 feet from the cage.

All credit to her for this wonderful feat in saving the lion.... but I'd pass on hugging anything several times my size whose instinct tells it that I am a bag of chips. I could see a different ending here to the hug scene.

I myself am a "cat person" -- I prefer to have the company of a cat to a dog, and love to pet on a cat and have it purr, and if the cat wishes to sleep in the bed, that is very nice, too!

Now, consider if you will what it would be like to have THIS animal to pet on like that! Ha! Also, yes, the tongue of even a house cat can be rough. Imagine how rough a lions is.

Does anyone know if these animals purr, or merely growl? If they do purr, that must be a very loud purr!

Right -- that thing is bigger than a human! It must weigh some 300 lbs! It would likely collapse a bed if it were to get on it!

It's a cat... it purrs. A friend who worked with the animals at the Washington D.C. zoo said that you can feel them from a few feet away.

That made my day.

They purr. It's very loud and very deep, but it's definitely a purr.

According to Wikipedia:

Weights for adult lions generally lie between 150–241 kg (330–530 lb) for males

Dated a gal in college who was an exotic animal trainer. She cared for the lions & tigers for a stint at the teaching zoo she was trained at. They purr. And yo CAN feel it from several feet away. Most amazing damn thin in the world is hearing them roar in the night. Her flat was 2 miles from the site as the crow flies, and the sound coming over the hills was still profund. Despite how scary they can be, they were always happy to see her, waiting with big hugs like this one. They would even kitty-nip affectionately...first time I saw it, I thought I was witnessing her demise. But they knew to pull their love nips, and be gentle with her.

I am astounded too that the bond actually 'took'. I'm not a cat person - the only reason they don't try and eat you is that they're not big enough. Perhaps the 'ful scale version, with their established 'pride' hierarchies are a little more like dogs after all?

Leaving all second-guessing and anti-feline prejudices aside, it was hard to deny the obvious affection in that clip - bars or not he'd've had her head off in a jiffy if he wanted to.

Wow that is a great video thank's for sharing. Lion's like alot of other specie's are very family orienated are highly intelligent and have great memorie's.

I have rescued quite a few animal's and the bond you share with them never dies.
