Milosevic found dead in cell!

Happy? ....well I am not sad in any way that he is dead.

I wish the tribunal would have ended and that the survivors of those that he terrorized would have been able to get some sort of closure from his trial, if that is even humanly possible.

Part of me, the bad part, wishes his death wouldn't have been so...peaceful.

At least they didn't have to go through a last minute all call for an anesthesiologist to monitor the execution. Maybe a power higher than the high court already convicted him and carried out the execution with out chance of appeal.

The only regret I have is that now his full crimes will not be judged in a court for the world to see. There are still some people who think that he did nothing wrong. This will kind of give them a way to deny what he did and continue his policies. Not that a conviction would have totally destroyed the die hards. But it could have helped.

Oh yeah, one more regret. I wish he had died from the effects of being dropped in a pit of scorpians......

Hello, Every human being has a chance to change the world they live in and make a big impact for it's people.

As a leader of your country....you can! "BUT" power do corrupt many of them.

When leaders think of themselves first they end up losing....if they think about the people first....they will end up great leaders!

Here is a good example of a man who consider himself first.....and now dies as someone who will be compare with the worst of the worst.

How would you like to be remember............Aloha

I am having second thoughts about this.

Oh, I like the fact that he is dead. I am just worried about the aftermath now that he has not been found guilty.

Today in the IHT there as a piece by Milan Panic, who was a huge political opponent of Milosevic when Panic was prime minister of Yugoslavia. He was forced out of office and blames the Clinton presidency for playing exactly into Milosevic's hands and giving him the clout to get rid of his opponents. He obviously is no fan of Milosevic and knows the types of things that go on in politics in that part of the world.

Now he is saying that there may be a huge swell of Serb nationalism based on the lie that Milosevic was killed. All the guys who benefited from Milosevic in power are still eager to gain power again and this may be the chance they are waiting for. Again, the actions by the West may play into the hands of Serb nationalists.

Milosevic's son is already openly accusing the Hague of killing him, and three newspapers in Belgrade have that theme on their front page. Russia is getting in on the act as well. They supported Milosevic when he was at his worst and still desire sway over the region. A team of forensic experts from Moscow said they don't trust the results of the autopsy and are on their way.

It would seem that he died due to his own actions. Traces of rifampicin were found in him. That would counter the medicine he was given for his high blood pressure. It looks like he was trying to convince people that he could not be cured by Western doctors and had to be sent to Russia and escape justice.

But now I fear that the most popular theory in Belgrade will involve a conspiracy theory that somehow thinks that they were so sneaky that they could slip him the drug, but too incompetent to make sure that the blood tests would remain under wraps.

Personally I think he probably was killed. I think that they were trying to pin everything that happened all on him 100%, when in reality a number of people that should have been there with him. Half the stuff that they were acusing him of wasn't going to stick, so rather than get a mixed verdict in a a trail, they just killed him.

I'm not sure how things work with the Hague, but it would seem a bit odd for him to be able to easily get his hands on some rifampicin, especially with the possibility of it killing him before he got his theoretical transfer. I'm sure he would have a hard time convincing people that Western doctors are worse than Russian doctors. Even if so, wouldn't an easier solution be to bring in a few Russian doctors?

I'm sure the stuff could have been smuggled in, but more likely he was given meds under false pretenses... conspiracy? well, perhaps. he killed enough people to make a good many enemies.

Personally, I would have liked seeing an execution if guilt was proven. The legal process takes so long...

I just can't believe that the medication was given to him in order to kill him. The guys in the Hague are just too much of a bunch of ninnies to do something like that. And if someone did, they would have made sure to cover their tracks a bit better. Drugs get smuggled into prisons all the time.

Panic is a smart man, but of dubious history. I worked at ICN Pharmaceuticals for a spell (the holding company he was President of...and may still be, for all I know), and there was a lot of rumor of questionable practices for the purpose of driving up ICN stock; including but not limited to leaks of the use of Virazole/Ribovirin having successfully arrested the AIDS virus and the common cold. I trust he loves his homeland; I do not trust that his motives are ever truly altruistic.
