I know a little Japanese. I studied a couple of guides and have some translators. But I'm not really fluent other than a few phrases for tourists and I can introduce and start a small conversation. Counting in Japanese is a Cinch, and I can converse about things here and there. Not too much, but what about?

Since this thread is here, I'll borrow it. Can someone tell me what the words for "darkness" and "pain" are, and and would anything have to be changed for them to be used in someone's name, specifically "darkness" as a sur and "pain" as a family name? It's for a story I'm writing. Thanks!
