On Unfurling Crane (somewhere in 3rd brown in my curriculum) I learned the hammerfist to the groin (after the "raining claw" portion) while shuffling in with the left (like a drag step), then a lifting knee to the groin transitions to the knife edge to the knee with the hand sword to the neck.

It never bothered me untill teaching someone else 3rd Brown and the question came up "but the manual says this.."

I have seen it in manuals and with other folks performing as a reverse bow with the hammer fist then with a scoop kick to the groin that transitions to the knife edge to the knee.

I am not posting this for the "right or wrong" way of doing the technique, I am just curious what variation or method you use on unfurling crane and why.

Don't care about lineages or mudslinging just a good discussion and what version you do!
