Korea Haedong Kumdo Assoc. & World Kumdo Federation

Has anyone heard of either of these organizations by these exact names?
-Korea Haedong Kumdo Association
-World Kumdo Federation

A master here in southern california had been promoting Kumdo as the USA President of the Korea Haedong Kumdo Association but now says he is affiliated with the World Kumdo Federation under President Jung Kim. This masters name is Byung Chul Chang. Has anyone heard these organizations or masters? If so, what can you tell me about them?

I'm a bit surprised that nobody has taken a stab at this after over a year.

The WKA is the merger of 13 smaller Korean Kumdo organizations and is essentially a kendo organization http://www.wka.org/.

The Korea Haidong Gumdo Association is, to my knowledge, located only in Korea and interracts internationally through the World Haidong Gumdo Association. Their US affiliate is the USA Haidong Gumdo Association: http://usahaidonggumdo.com/index.html

There is another US Haedong Kumdo Association: http://www.haedongkumdo.us/. I do not know if the man you mention is involved with any of these.

I'm having the same trouble with different organizations,
I trained under Sung Yoon, tested and received first Dan on Sept. 29,2003. The Organizations that
gave this certification are. The Korean HaeDong Kumdo Association, under Han Il Na listed as Governor
and the International HaeDong Kumdo Federation Inc. My certificate number is 03-01-8154.
The Dojang has closed and reopened under another Instructor with no affiliation to the above listed
Organizations. I hold Dan rank in three other styles, all verifiable by Instructor and certification number,
but I cannot find these organizations, or Instructors.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that the International Haidong Gumdo Federation is no more. The only international HDGD org that I can find is the World HDGD Federation: http://eng.hdgd.org/01_federation/01_federation_04.html. If you go to the 'Organizations' tab, there is mention of a Korean Haidong Gumdo Association, but no links to it. Wish I could be of more assistance.

Thank you for your assistance. I looked up the Organization you suggested, but it doesn't link to either Federation.
I've contacted the World HDGD Federation, but as of yet they have not returned my correspondence.

I had questions about HDGD and he returned my correspondence within a day or two. Very nice gentleman! I believe that he is a regional contact for the US HDGD Association. The US HDGD Association is the US branch of the World HDGD federation.
