Try this drill out or get your students to do it. Partner shapes up in a boxing type guard.
Wing Chun guy steps in with pak sau and punch, as soon as the partner feels the pak sau he throws a random high or low four corner strike.
It teaches the wing chun person to be in a attacking mode but still have the ability to deflect strikes coming in and is a good realistic way to train in my opinion.
 
That's cool, but it just depends on whether the person (boxer) is feeding techniques in realistically. If you do the drill statically it can be a problem.
 
Thats very true im sure we,ve all trained with people who don't attack you realistically as well as some people who try to take your head off .
 
Sounds like a good drill to play around with. The theory behind training a block and an attack at the same time is to get you used to not concentrating on just a single motion. After time and training, multiple moves at the same time will become obsolete because in the beginning, like in music, you're using only whole notes. With time you start picking up half notes and quarter notes. You'll learn to separate the top portion of your body from the bottom and now you'll have two instruments working simultaniously. Instead of throwing a block and punch, try throwing just a single punch that both blocks their punch and follow through with the rest of the energy to complete contact with the opponents adam's apple ;)

You can say that again! ...Oh I guess (with my help) you just did! Anyway, that's real efficiency. And, unlike a two-movent attack, such as pak-da, it doesn't feed the boxer energy to redirect back at you. That doesn't mean he still can't take your head off. The trick is finding someone who's cool to training with you and really knows how to box!
