Last night I caught a show on the Discovery Channel called "A Haunting". It was a true story about a haunted house in New York, it was very, very, creepy to watch. It got me thinking about things I have experienced at times.

Does anyone have any real-life, personal experiences with *ghosts* or *haunted houses*?

I'll share one of mine. After I got married, my husband and I bought our first house. Shortly after we moved in we were awakened on several occasions in the middle of the night by a loud metallic, hammering/banging sound. It was ungodly loud and we could not determine where in the house the sound was originating from. Eventually it would stop. It freaked us both out pretty good. It finally stopped after a while and we never figured out what it was.

While I wouldn't exactly call it *haunted*, the house never really did feel exactly *clean* either and there were times I felt I wasn't alone when I was home alone. Times I felt *watched*. It was kind of creepy and I wasn't sorry to sell it 7 years later.

My friend Chuck and i found this old house on the outskirts of Springfield PA, It looked something out of a horror movie...We decided to explore and ignore the do not enter signs..We went to the backdoor and and attempted to push our way in..An ICE COLD gust of air from INSIDE the house pushed us back..We didn't return...

I meant to record that show but I forgot all about it last night. I have had several very strange experiences in my years. I try to be scientific about some of the crazy things I’ve seen but some things I guess just are beyond explanation.

I do love to hear about things people have seen or been through. Every thing from white noise, to full on poltergeist, haunting, and spirit manifestations it’s all very interesting too me.

Talking about all hollows eve, any one know the how this holiday came about? The real reason there is such a holiday...

I'm skeptical of those ghosts and hauntings, BUT I was hearing strange noises around the house for a few nights, then one night I was awaken by my bedroom light being on. It was off when I went to sleep, but somehow was back on in the middle of the night.

At that much less skeptical moment I said outloud, "Ok, you've freaked me out now." Anyway, I'm sure there was a perfectly good explanation for how my light got turned on. I probably only flipped the switch partially down and it popped itself back into the on position. I've tried to purposefully get the light switch into that halfway position to reproduce the result, but haven't been able to. I must have just got lucky that one time.

:) this is my kind of topic. I'm superstitious by nature so I'm no stranger to weird events. Several occasions I've experienced the tv turning itself back on moments after I've turned it off (using a remote control then walking up to the tv to do it manually). But instead of being scared I'm actually quite amused by it. It's only funny for oh the first 5 times, after that I just pull the plug.

A couple months ago I got in an elevator with another person. We take opposite walls facing each other. I tend to be anti-social in the morning before a cup of coffee so I was avoiding eye contact. I look back at the panel to make sure I pressed my floor button. But when I faced towards the person he was gone. I'm like oh, one of those...

But THE scariest experience happened Sept 14th 2006, 4:55pm. I was driving eastbound on Danforth Rd, it splits into a two lane one way road right before it joins with Kingston Rd (Scarborough, Canada). About 50 feet ahead I saw a male around 5' 8" wearing blue jeans, an orange jacket and carrying an orange gym bag. Oh yeah he stood out like a sore thumb. Obviously he wanted to cross the road but it was fairly busy. Suddenly he runs out towards traffic successfully dodging a car. He paused in the middle of the lane, cars passing infront and behind him. I think to myself this guy is crazy, he's gonna get hit. I saw him wait for a moment, then saw him step infront of a white pickup truck.

My jaw dropped... I had just witnessed an accident. I start logging facts in my mind: time, my speed 54kmph, anything that would help my statment. But something was out of place, nobody stopped. I started freaking out, oh my goodness a hit and run accident! I slowed down to the spot where the accident happened, but there was nothing. No sign of an accident or anything. When I realized what just happened I got pissed and thought oh it was one of those...

I tell my friends these stories mostly for amusement. We always have a good laugh at my freak out moments. But I see weird things all the time and I pay them no heed.

Found an old cemetary not far from the Bay of Lake Erie...Oldest headstone was from the 1700's ..I went back to tell the rest of our little vacation buddies and as we were mounting ourcyeles to head back one of the old men warned us about "a demon comin up from outta the ground to get ya." I laughed and remined him of of my nickname and that Dracula was more poweful than any run of the mill spook..We spend an hour exploring the place..Upon returning EVERYONE broke out into a rash except me..My Dad tied to explain it away by saying that I didn't walk where everyone else did..I explained that I led the way...Strange????

I'm prone to these types of things...
If you look back into my family tree on both sides, you will find that there were witches(in PA, they're called PowWowers)...All of these were the "white" variety, however, there were one or two of the "black" variety(otherwise known as Hexers)...
I've grown up in and among the superstitions of the PA Dutch, and seeing the fact that one of the biggest occult sensations of the past century(Rehmeyer's Hollow) is literally ten miles from where I live, you tend to get spooked easily around here...
My family and I live in a haunted house(haunted by the ghost of an elderly man and his cat) next to one of(if not THE) largest cemetaries in York County...
I would type some more, but I've got to get to work, so more on this subject later..

i do. 2yrs ago my mother passed away of cancer. the morning she died i was there to hold her hand as she passed away. well it was 6 in the morning. the next day at 6 am i awoke and was really aggitated then i felt like a hand grabbed my hand and all of a sudden i was calm and i fell back asleep. when i awoke later that morning i was'nt sure if i dreamed it or if it really happened?

Actually, yes. And a lot of it. My first experence was when I was 4 or 5. It is nerve wracking. To make it worse, I could always feel and sometimes see the presence then. And still can.

My family history is very similar to Jason's. We have a heritage too - in clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience etc. Hereditary witches. None of the family I know are 'hexers' though. All practice white witchcraft. For those not in the know, these are the friendlies, the healers. By the way, it was passed down from my mother's side of the family.

My only advice is that if the presence is uncomfortable, have an exorcism done. It works. If comfortable and non-threatening, ignore and pray for them.

By the way, you may find an increase in activity around Hallow'een. That is when the veil between the two worlds is at its thinnest.

Peace
Dave

True..Do a Google search for "Hell Town"..It's in Summit county in Ohio..There is an old house WAY back in the woods that is supposed to have a bad history...The local boys( Me), The Park Rangers and the Summit County SO have a full time job watching this place during this time of year....

Yep. Lot's of weird stuff out there. I'm going to do the search on Hell Town, Drac. See what you're up against this Halloween. ;)

My mother-in-law is PA dutch, she grew up in Lebanon and her family is highly superstitious. Her grandmother was a "white witch" and she says it is passed down every other generation.

Okay, I will tell a little story and you can decide if it is scary or not. As a kid my parents lived out in the country. Everyone around us had plenty of acres, horses, cows, pigs, etc. You get the idea. Lots of trees and swamps were around as well. So I would go exploring all day, sometimes with friends and sometimes not. One day I was out away from my house about 12 acres away in the woods behind a pond. As I was walking down a path with a stick, in the woods the sun went behind some clouds. This made it fairly dark but not dark enough that you could not see. So I kept going exploring this trail and about two hundred yards further into the woods I come across what could only be called a dillapidated shack. Imagine no window, wood totally discolored and broken in places, no door, etc. Now I am about fifteen feet away from this place and I am rivited on the door watching. However now I feel frozen to the spot just watching the door with the hair on the back of my neck feeling funny. Then it broke and I high tailed it all the way home. Needless to say I never went back to that spot in the woods again.

Check it out...A whole lotta strange stuff out this way....

when i was 9 years old i lived in this house where late at night something would bang on the back door very loud.i have always stayed up late and so i would be the only one up when this would be happening.
the banging never woke my mom up,which was very strange because her room was very close to that back door.
it used to scare the crap out of me when the banging would start.
to my knowledge i am the only person that ever heard the banging on that back door late at night.
