I caught it by chance: I have no idea why the TV was turned to PBS, because we hardly ever watch that channel...

I found it rather interesting, from both the historical as well as political angle.

And I realized I could probably understand old English rather well, since it is very closely related to 'Alt-Hochdeutsch' and 'Mittel-Hochdeutsch', the ancient versions of my mother tongue.
Sadly it won't help in Cornish nor Welsh....
(reading a historical mystery novel by Pat Mvintosh, I got into the medieval Scottish rather well when I allowed my dialects to surface..)
