This was posted on the Tilton (NH) Police Department's Facebook page:

While taking a routine vandalism report at an elementary school, an officer was interrupted by a little girl about six years old.
Looking up and down at his uniform, she asked, "Are you a cop?"

"Yes," he replied and continued writing the report.

"My mother said if I ever needed help I should ask the police. Is that right?"
"Yes, that's right," he told her.
"Well, then," she said as she extended her foot towards the officer, "would you please tie my shoe?"

...B-b-but, WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?!

I'll let the Tilton PD do the talking ;)

Well of course you would tie her shoe.

That's a sweet story. I really liked that.

A lot of people I know that became cops, did so for one reason. They wanted to help people. I know that might sound naive to some, or like so much b.s, but it's true.

And a lot still do. But if a person isn't strong and committed, it's easy to get jaded with all the bad people one constantly runs across.

But I like the story. Much humanity there, as well as a cop who still believes in his job.
