No, the shark was jumped back in 1994 when the Punisher from Marvel comics made an appearance in a Archie storyline. Then, there was the 2 hour "Back to Riverdale" made for tv movie where he was in his 30's and moves back to Riverdale. It even had Lauren Hollie playing Bettie.
It stunk, but I kind of liked it. That was in the early 90's too.

That is the "new art" they are trying for some of the newer issues.
I grew up on Archie comics. I don't read it, but I like to keep up on what is going on.

I dunno Betty seems to me the better choice... Veronica while just as hot, just was too spendy with daddy's money and all she ever cared about was shopping... very high maintenance which Archie really wouldn't be able to afford... even with Veronica's daddy's money.
