Classes: up to brown belt, $50 for each 3 month session ($200/yr); after brown belt, no tuition
Required in-school tournaments: up to brown belt, $35 4 times a year ($140/yr); brown and above, free if you help with setup
Belt tests: $35 4 times a year up to blue belt, then less often
Initial brown belt test (includes gear bag, red gi with patches and embroidery and some other gear): $150.00.
Subsequent brown belt tests: free if for practice; $50 if taking a stripe off
I'm hard on gis, so I probably spend another $50-80 a year on that.
I've spent at most $100 on sparring gear in the last 3 years; despite being rather destructive.
Other equipment: before I test for black belt, I'll need to buy a bo, tonfas, sais, escrima sticks, a sword (metal or wood), and nunchuku and learn the basics of each. Guess I know what I'm getting for my birthday and Christmas this year.
