Hottest selling toy 2006?

Hello, They say the hottest selling toy is the 10th ann (Elmo- that falls and laughs).

Someone on E-bay has one for 5 million dollars (includes free shipping).

Retails for $40, but the bids on e-bay is going to about $80, average, watch out for the shipping cost..some are really high! ....Aloha

I worked in the toy department of WalMart ten years ago during the first Elmo boom. Ah, Walmart--minumum wage, unaffordable health benefits, being locked in the store after closing hours (there are countless law suits due to this).....those were the days.

Anyway, I had over 100 of those Elmo's on the shelf until the media announced it was the hot toy. It's funny how people don't want something until they are told that they want it.

It was rough. I got threatened several times for not having them in stock and not having "Holiday Barbie." Like a 2nd shift mimimum wage peon has anything to do with corporate shipments. Even the department managers could not control how many cases of certain toys they recieved.

PS - I hate Wal-Mart. I truly believe that it is the end of western civilization. Don't get me started.

I remember hearing about how ten years ago some kid traded an Elmo for a working VW bug.

How proud would you be of your son if he traded a doll for a car and everything about the trade was legit?

even better, i heard how one kid sold his hot toy (might have been elmo, might have been some other) on ebay. then gave the money to charity.

this was an elementary age kid.
