March 17, 2009
Military.com
Kevin Baker, a disabled Gulf War vet who was traveling cross-country from Norman, Okla, to Washington, D.C., to champion adoption of a new flag honoring fallen and disabled troops, died March 13 after suffering a seizure in Lake Charles, La.
Baker was a Navy veteran who had suffered a traumatic brain injury and had a history of seizures, according to an Associated Press report Monday. Baker was making the trek on a specially-designed hand-powered bike to bring attention to an Honor and Remember Flag that he hoped to see officially adopted to recognize troops killed and injured in service to the United States.
