Recently a group called "Guns Save Lives," helped out a gun buy back program. They brought in 60 pieces of junk firearms and received gift cards, as per the goals of the gun grabbing...er...gun turn in program. The great part is...they are going to use the 6000 dollars to send kids to an NRA shooting camp.

This is a great story. American kids get the chance to participate in one of the building blocks of a free society, the ability to keep and bear arms.
The chance to tweak the gun grabbers is just an added benefit...
As to the police response...
Perhaps with all the shootings in Chicago, it isn't the guns that are the problem but the criminals who will use the gun buy back program to get rid of evidence...

July 1, 2012 (CHICAGO) -- A gun group is using its payout from Chicago's annual gun buy-back event to send children to a shooting camp -- a move that has been criticized by the city's police department.
Approximately 60 guns and several BB guns were given to police by the Champaign-based gun group Guns Save Life during the gun buy-back last week, the Chicago Sun-Times reports (http://bit.ly/MhqXuI).
The gun-group received $6,240 in gifts cards in exchange for the guns.
"This was rusty, non-firing junk that we turned in," said John Boch, president of the group. "We are redirecting funds from people who would work against the private ownership of firearms to help introduce the next generation to shooting safely and responsibly."
But a police spokesperson said what the group was doing was "unfortunate."
"We host the gun turn-in event on an annual basis to encourage residents to turn in their guns so we can take guns off the street and it's unfortunate that this group is abusing a program intended to increase the safety of our communities," said Melissa Stratton, a police spokeswoman.
Young shooters will attend a camp hosted by the National Rifle Association in Bloomington to learn gun safety and how to shoot responsibly, the newspaper reported. The bulk of the group's payout will go toward ammunition for campers and bolt-action rifles.
