Looks like my area's going to be getting some snow Friday evening / Saturday morning, to the tune of 1-2 inches of accumulation.

Of course, most of y'all from the Northeast are going to scoff at me and say "come on, you wimp, it's just 1-2 inches!"

I don't necessarily disagree, since I used to live in Connecticut for a couple of miserable snowy years. However, I'm in Alabama, where snow is a four letter word, and most people haven't seen any snow around here since the early 90's.

Snow isn't going to bother me, but when I go to the grocery store tonight, I already know what's going to happen; there won't be single carton of milk available, a single loaf of bread, or a single jug of bottled water on the shelves. Fresh meat will have already been bought up by the cartloads from panicking people, and certain canned goods will be scarce.

1 to 2 in NOTHING up here...I have that for BREAKFAST :EG:

God help you if one of our members from Massachusetts sees this post.

But down in the South you basically have nothing to cope with it so I can understand

Well ... jeez ... weird because ... I know Southern California has seen more rain in the last two years than I remember seeing when I lived there. And we've been in relative drought conditions in my area of the Pacific NW - less rain last year than any other year I've been here.

I dunno. I just don't know.

You must have missed the report that stated that cold weather and snow were definitely indicators of global warming. Seriously.

You have no chance to survive make your time. Ha Ha Ha Ha!

Yup

Global warming means climate change. Places that were cold could be warmer places that were warm could be cooler.

Yup we're all doomed

Meanwhile glaciers are receding all over the world. We thought the West Antarctic Ice Shelf was climate-change proof. It's melting. And the rate is accelerating. Last year we saw ice-free water all the way to the North Pole and a navigable Northwest Passage for the first time in recorded history.

Sad part is how many 4x4's are down there, and All-terrain tires -- it's not like nobody will be able to drive . . .

I wonder if "Global Warming" isn't the best name for it . . . maybe "Global Drastic Climate Change" or something. But that wouldn't sell as well.

A friend of mine lived down there years ago and ran a towing service. It snowed and he had no problems getting around, it was only about 3 inches of snow, but the police told him the roads were closed and he was not allowed to drive anywhere. Of course that was a long time ago it may be different now.

But I am sticking with the statement in regards to the complaint, since it was suggested

Its a good point. Afterall, its the atmosphere that is getting warmer not the planet's core temperature. Funny thing is, if you look at the work of paleoclimatologists these sorts of rapid climatic variations are often precursors to a huge wave of mass extinctions. Hmm, maybe its not that funny?
