Bobby Lashley, who made his name and fortune pro wrestling for the WWE, has signed with Strikeforce. He is scheduled to make his debut on Strikeforce's Jan. 30 card, though no opponent has been named. Strikeforce will also have Nick Diaz, Herschel Walker and Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos on the Jan. 30 card.

Lashley is 4-0 with wins over Bob Sapp and Jason Guida. Brock Lesnar, also a crossover mixed martial artist from the WWE, had a title shot in the UFC by his fourth fight, but Lashley has said he wants to learn the game before he jumps into big fights. To that end, he's been working with American Top Team.

What's interesting is the way Strikeforce has been snatching up fighter after fighter. It started this summer with the way they won the race for Fedor and Gegard Mousasi. They then picked up young up-and-coming prospects like Tyron Woodley and Mo Lawal, and proven fighters like Ronald "Jacare" Souza and Melvin Manhoef. This week, they swiped away Dan Henderson from the UFC.

Bobby Lashley may not have the same sort of MMA bona fides as the rest of the Strikeforce's recent signees, but he is popular. Considering that illness and injury has Brock Lesnar, Georges St. Pierre, Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida sidelined until the snow melts, the UFC could use a bankable star like Lashley right about now.
